Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

Please remember that the purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your unique new lunar month theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life.

This New Moon produces a Partial Solar Eclipse in early sidereal Pisces. It conjoins the Equinox and the asteroid Ceres. See this month's Lunar Calendar for exact times.

The eclipse can be seen from eastern Asia and parts of northern Alaska. This eclipse belongs to Saros Series 149.

Technical Information on this eclipse can be found at Fred Espenak's MrEclipse.com.

Ceres

Ceres adds a principle energetic to this month's theme. Ceres brings awareness to how we nurture and to that which is truly nurturing to us. Ceres embodies mothering and agricultural qualities and brings attention to our relation with the Earth, the land, and the seasons. Ceres reveals our ability to be in universal flow--the unification of giving and receiving as one flow of energy through ourselves. Ceres asks for acknowledgment of our inner needs, to have self love and self worth. Ceres is of concern and caring for others as well as for the Earth. Ceres is associated with the womb and stomach, that which is life giving. More on the asteroid Ceres.

Our Ceres New Moon Eclipse Equinox theme is revealed by the conjoining stars in early sidereal Pisces, the principal one being Scheat of the Great Square of Pegasus. Scheat marks a very significant geometric and fundamental location in the ecliptic. South of Scheat, in the southern heavens, is the South Galactic Pole in the Sculptor constellation; north is the most northern point along the galactic plane, which marks our primordial origin--the origin point in Earth's precessional cycle--this entryway being guarded by Lacerta. To learn more about this geometry and its significance in our evolutionary cycle, see the Holy Cross and / or the Holy Cross Movies.

The Scupltor Galaxy (NGC253) belongs to the Sculptor Group of Galaxies surrounding the South Galactic Pole--the foundation point of our galaxy and of the evolutionary cycle of the soul collective on Earth. The "Sculptor Group" is one of closest galactic groups to our "Local Group" to which our galaxy belongs.

The constellation Sculptor is rather inconspicuous until we realize the South Galactic Pole resides here. Originally termed "l'Atelier du Sculpteur", the Sculptor's Studio or Workshop, by La Caille, the "true Columbus of the southern sky" (Allen). Here again is clue to the nature of this watery zodiakal location--the primordial origin point of the soul's evolutionary cycle--from which life is sculpted. Here our attention is brought to the essence of our lives, to the foundation we have created upon which our lives express.

The March equinox in the annual solar cycle is much like the First Quarter Moon in a lunar cycle--a time creating "stimulus to action", marking entry into the "creative action" quarter of the solar cycle. Our current solar cycle, which began in December 2006, was presented in the Dec 20, 2006 lunar planner.

The vernal point of the moving vernal axis (of the Holy Cross) (changing its location in the ecliptic with Earth's ~25,000-year Precessional Cycle) currently residing at this ecliptical location (~5° sidereal Pisces) also creates the Erect Holy Cross. Thus, this Ceres New Moon Equinox Eclipse activates the Holy Cross portal creating a significant shift in the evolutionary cycle of the soul collective on Earth, a cycle governed by Earth's precessional timepiece--the cycle of the Holy Cross.

The vernal point's (0° tropical Aries) location in the sidereal zodiak also reveals where we reside in the "astrological ages." The vernal point currently resides at ~5 sidereal Pisces (moving at the rate of Earth's precession toward sidereal Aquarius). To learn more about Earth's precession, the astrological ages, and the intercession of the Holy Cross, see the Sidereal Astrology web page.

The Great Square of Pegasus is created by Markab, Scheat, Algenib, and Alpheratz (occurring in that order in ecliptical longitude). The principles and qualities embodied in each of these stars reveal the requirements for our psychophysiological preparation to become free from the lower quaternary world, the four dimensions of physical reality, and its bounds. This "refinement of self" results in an advanced biological vehicle, one that can fly above the bounds of the psychic-emotional entrapment of collective genetic consciousness in accomplishment of soul's greater mission.

The Pegasus Great Square is a portal in which resides the high-spectra Merkabah vehicle depicted as the winged spacecraft. The Merkabah is not merely self as an intellectualized geometry of light, but requires the psychophysiological refinement of the human vehicle to active our "bodies as light." These four stars have long been associated with the feet of a table or stand, thus recognized as a supporting foundation or stage upon which something else transpires or rises from. The four stars of the Pegasus Great Square open the Anakarahna (Ankh of Ra), access to our fifth dimensional solar bodies of light.

Scheat, the Beta star of the Pegasus Great Square (at 5° sidereal Pisces), being square to the primary axis of the Holy Cross (the Gate of God and the Gate of Man at 5° sidereal Sag/Gemini), is part of the mystery (Gnostic wisdom) that reveals the nature of this ecliptical location's significance: The vernal point's arrival here in Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle (circa 2000 A.D.) creates a 'greater' square--the Holy Cross portal in the evolutionary cycle of the soul.

Scheat embodies the essence of watery sidereal Pisces, and brings attention to our life force and use of it. Scheat brings attention to the waters of life and to the purity of our body fluids, especially the "lymph," which means Flowing Spirit of the Living Water of Life. Scheat pertains to all waters of the world, but also to body fluids, especially water's relationship to the purification of the physical vehicle and the body's requirement for refined life force energies to express through the fluids molecular matrix. Scheat also brings attention to our blood, sacred sexual fluids, and saliva, as well as to the types of fluids that we bring into our bodies. The purity and movement of the lymph and blood is not only essential for the elimination of toxins, but is also required for the transference of subtle light energies of cosmic intelligence (our soul's essence) to express through our genetic coding. The more life giving spirit substance we conduct, the more we express the true vibrancy of our souls in the world. This is why peoples throughout history have sought Living Water--healing springs flowing endlessly from the ground of their own accord, water said to bring immortality--the word immortality meaning "not being subject to premature degeneration and death." Alignments with Scheat ask us to consider what we are doing with our primordial life force, how we are using our Chi / Xi. Scheat also asks us to integrate our primordial essence with the spiritual essence--to realize they are one flowing life-giving force.

All considered, this lunar cycle brings attention to the use of our fundamental life force (what we are doing with it in our individual lives), and the need to shift gears in how we apply it as we enter a new octave of creative action in the evolutionary transition occurring upon Earth. A portal opens.

Ceres in Realization - about the Heart

The first sliver moon can be seen conjoining Venus in the western sky just after sunset on eve of March 21. At the same time, the Sun and Ceres make their conjunction on March 21-22, a day after Equinox, and just before the Crescent Moon. This marks the mid-way point in the current Ceres synodic cycle, which began on Aug 12, 2006. This is the point of realization in the Ceres cycle, bringing awareness to its meaning in our lives. The combined Ceres-Neptune synodic cycle was presented in the July 24, 2006 lunar planner.

This realization also brings insight into the "opportunity for growth" this lunar cycle has to offer (something we can attune to when looking at the first sliver of a moon at sunset).

The first phase of this lunar cycle (from the New Moon eclipse through the Crescent Moon) creates a revelatory opening in consciousness, one that may catalyze a primary shift in how we are applying our life force and participating in life.

Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

Expanding on the Theme

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

This Crescent Moon occurs on Mar 22 in sidereal Aries and conjoins LMC X-3, a potent x-ray source black hole.

Far below the entire scene of the Royal Family and sidereal Aries, deep in southern sky, lies Dorado, the gold fish--embodiment of the illumined soul. Dorado "refers not to our little exotic cyprinoid, but to the large coryphaena of the tropical seas, of changing colors at death" (Allen). The head of the goldfish marks the southern pole of the ecliptic--the foundational seat of soul's current incarnational mission--the pot of gold protected by the dragon (which encircles the north ecliptic pole). This is why the royal family is adorned in gold and gems / riches--representing the illumination and wealth of the soul--not the illusory wealth of the mortal world. Hence, the confusion about our true riches--why we fight over the mineral gold, or even try to ingest it, rather than delve deep within for the golden light of the soul. Upon Dorado's head lies the LMC X-3 black hole in the "Large Magellanic Cloud."

The Small and Large Magellanic Clouds (SMC and LMC) are small galaxies that orbit our Milky Way galaxy. We might think of them as our galaxy's young, although not necessarily birthed from the Milky Way. It is more like they are being cared for and reared by our galaxy.

The LMC X-3 binary x-ray source black hole provides the opportunity to relinquish our arrogant attitudes about our rightful places in world (or heaven) and that keep us entrapped. It asks us to realize the freedom we seek is found only through the initiations of the maturing soul, not in the blessings or curses we think we receive at personality level.

Mercury and Jupiter start a new synodic cycle also on March 22, a few hours after the Crescent Moon, stimulating expansive and optimistic thought.

First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

Initiate Action

Dragon of Marduk Ishtar Gate Babylon

"IC433 is a supernova remnant of a star that exploded about 35000 years ago. It is located approx. 5000 light years away. To the left is IC444, a large emission nebula, which also contains a small reflection nebula (the small bluish patch in the upper middle). The two bright stars are Eta (Tejat) and Mu (Dirah) of Gemini."
Eta and Mu are less than 2° apart.

NASA Hubble Space Telescope

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter.

Mars and Neptune conjoin in late sidereal Capricorn within and hour of our First Quarter Moon of March 25, and add impetus to act upon our dreams and visions, action which may now become clear.

The First Quarter Moon conjoins Dirah and the Bright Emision Nebula IC 444 in sidereal Gemini, which, along with Tejat, form the Foot of Castor.

Here is wonderful impetus to step forth, to emerge and participate. Alignments with the foot of Castor indicate that it is time to come out of hiding, to become visible, to stand forth in the limelight, and to make self visible, available, and approachable. This can also indicate the need to emerge from our own mental obscurations and illusions. Tejat may indicate it is time to claim one's role in the physical world, and to take the steps at hand that are required for the physical unfoldment of what we want and for our participation in the world. It is time to do what is required. Tejat (and IC 443/444) can also indicate those who are physically marked in some way: including birth marks, genetic marks, or other unique features including tattoos, and especially jewels; or it may reveal marks or signs indicating it is time for bold action.

Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

Attraction & Involvement

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

A few hours before the Gibbous Moon, Mercury and Pluto start a new synodic cycle, creating an opening.

Our Gibbous Moon occurs on March 29 in the last degree of sidereal Cancer. Here we move out of the Scarab's (Crabs's) influence and step under the auspices of the Head of the Lion, which peaks from Leo back over the Leo-Cancer cusp.

This last few degree part of Cancer is composed of Algenubi, the Eye of the lion; Rasalas, the Crown of the Lion; Subra, the Paw of Lion; and southern Alpha Pictoris. The moon conjoins the latter stars. The theme here is of discovery, of breaking trail.

Subra, marking the end of sidereal Cancer, is the paw of the Lion impressed in the desert sand. Subra is of prints, tracks, plans, codices and ancient maps--clues to hidden trails and paths obscured by the sands of time. Subra indicates a discovery process is at hand, one leading to the secret chambers, entryways, even to liftoff sites of the gods--places hidden from ordinary view. Simply, Subra asks that we dig, uncover, and find the way to navigate the passage of our heart's true desire.

Alpha Pictoris is the primary star of the very southern constellation Pictoris, the Painter's Easel. Alpha Pictoris indicates a picture or scenario is starting to emerge from the æthers. This is a picture assembling itself as we break trail in our discovery process. Alpha Pictoris asks us to see the pathway or entryway emerging out of the mist covering an abyss, in the rock of a mountain side, in the billowing clouds blown by the wind, in the leaves fallen upon the ground, or simply in our mind's inner eye. Alpha Pictoris asks us to creatively assemble the signs, to read the message, to see the coalescing spirit substance yet to become, to paint a new picture, a new life.

MercuryUranus

Mercury and Uranus play a key role during the pollinating phase of this lunar cycle, the days between the Gibbous Moon and Full Moon (March 29 through April 2).

Uranus resides on the Lunar North Node in sidereal Aquarius, while the Moon conjoins the Lunar South Node. Mercury then conjoins the North Node, and then Mercury and Uranus conjoin. The Lunar Nodes can be thought of as a magnetic pointer: The South Node indicates the past path, where we are coming from, often revealing comfy-cozy old patterns to fall back into. The North Node indicates the new direction to move, where our growth is realized. This planetary configuration on the Lunar Nodes brings impetus to step forth into radical new territory, breaking from the conformity of the past.

Also durring this time, on Mar 31, Pluto stations to begin its retrograde. This begins the transition phase out of Pluto's previous synodic cycle. Pluto's new synodic cycle will begin durring its retrograde on June 18-19--to be discussed then. See "Synodic Cycles and Planetary Retrogrades" to learn how synodic cycles start in the midst of a planet's retrograde and the meaning of retrograde periods in this context.

Full Moon Phase Characteristics

Vision, Enthusiasm, & Realization of the Theme

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.

The Full Moon of April 2 occurs in sidereal Virgo and conjoins the principal stars of Corvus the Raven, Alchiba and Algorab. Also conjoining is Beta Hydra.

Corvus the Raven is the messenger bird, Algorab, Eta Corvus, asks us to be attentive to the natural world around us moment-by-moment, as Divine Intelligence permeates and thus communicates through all of nature. The signs found in the simplest of life experience have meaning if we are willing to be attentive to them. In fact, we can even ask to receive guidance through prayer or simply by briefly holding the intent to inquire and then letting it go. It is the sincere projection of clear intent that vibrationally invokes a response from the world around us. All we need do is show up, pay attention, trust, and participate.

Beta Hydra, of the Water Serpent, lies just under the Raven—in essence the Raven is depicted upon the Water Serpent’s back. Beta Hydra is of warnings, in the sense that the Ravens (or the signs appearing in our lives) may not only affirm fortuitous directions to move, but they may also indicate what may be just below our surface awareness that we might avoid.

On April 5-6, Jupiter stations to begin its retrograde. This begins the transition phase out of Jupiter's previous synodic cycle. Jupiter's new synodic cycle will begin durring its retrograde on June 5--to be discussed then.

Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

Manifestation & Demonstration

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit in the cycle, of claiming its gift.

The Disseminating Moon of April 6 resides in early sidereal Scorpio just in front of the Scorpion's head and conjoins Kornephorus and Kajam of Hercules; Yed Prior of Ophiuchus; Alpha Circini; and Dscubha, the head of the Scorpion.

Here we have motivation to take responsibility for our reality and to realize it is up to us to choose a path that leads us from any entrapping life scenarios we may experience.

Through the Gates of Hell

A Grand Trine portal opens on April 8 as the Moon conjoins retrograde Jupiter; trine the Sun in Pisces; and trine retrograde Saturn in Cancer.

The Moon and recently retrograde Jupiter conjoin the Ara Black Hole on the Altar of the Centaur.

Ara can be depicted as the altar of Noah, or the altars built by Moses, Miriam and Aaron through their desert sojourns. This dimensional portal (V821 Black Hole) above the Altar we might consider as from where emerges the demoniac anguish and medieval-type pain, the creatures of Dante's Inferno, during our sacrificial deaths upon the altar. Here we can access the holographic historical record of the deliberate and required, and the unfortunate and unnecessary wrong or unjust occurrences in life. And here emerges our dark engulfed history rising in the flames of the Centuar's pyre, inverted, twisted, transmuted, and, for one capable of embracing the process, the wisdom radiated back by visiting hell.

Ara's V821 provides us opportunity to relinquish a lesser aspect of self for a greater, but requires an act that is all or nothing, with no in-between. V821 opens a transmutational portal where the entire holographic record of soul's historical evolutionary journey can be burned provided we are willing to learn of and embrace the transmutational process.

The Moon-Jupiter trigger of this Grand Trine is the mobilizing agent to move through this portal.

The Sun conjoins Nodus Secundus (the Second Node of the Dragon) and the irregular shaped galaxy IC 1613 of Cetus. Both conjoin the theme of Alpheratz, the head of the entrapped princess. Here we are asked to become attentive to the fact that our intent of purpose can be diverted and dispersed by psycho-emotional forces that congest us when toxic physical conditions exist, or when we are naive to such forces. Our psycho-emotional fog can then perpetuate confused life scenarios, antiquated involvements, or entrapments that are no longer in our highest interest. The Second Node of the Dragon can indicate initiatory lessons regarding this theme. The Sun may bring this to light if we are willing to enter this portal.

Retrograde Saturn in Cancer resides over the head of the Hydra, revealing what may be our well established undermining multifarious patterns of self-destruction.

We will emerge from this portal in the next lunar cycle on May 4-5.

Juno's New Synodic Cycle

Juno, asteroid of covenant partnerships, begins its new 486-day synodic cycle in sidereal Virgo on April 8/9. (Mercury and Mars also begin a new synodic cycle at the same time.) The last Juno Synodic Cycle started on Dec 9, 2005 in sidereal Taurus conjoining enterprising Rigel of Orion. Its theme was presented in the Dec 1, 2005 lunar planner.

This Juno synodic cycle theme is defined by stars that Earth and Juno conjoin looking from the Sun.

Juno, about 9° north of the ecliptic, lies in the midst of the Virgo constellation, in the area of the Virgin's womb. This indicates that something new wants to birth in or from partnerships. Earth and Juno conjoin Muphrid of Bootes; Alpha Volantis; the seyfert galaxy NGC 5548 in Bootes.

Muphrid just above the left knee of Boötes, on his thigh, is the facilitator to the transmutational process involved in the new birth from the Virgin (the principle of pure intent). Muphrid provides personal and intimate support by making possible and ensuring proper energetic environments are created so the spiritual (conceptual) to physical transmutation for the new birth can occur. Conjoining Seginus, the left shoulder of Boötes, inspires us to take the responsibility to ensure proper environments are maintained and not interfered with by meddling forces or ill-intented forces that would like to see otherwise and that attempt to manipulate our evolutionary fulfillment. Boötes functions not by brute force but by spiritual awareness and intellectual prowess in the application of the knowledge about such environmental issues and transcendent subtle forces. Muphrid and Seginus lie over the lower spinal sacrum (sanctum) of the Virgin and the Virgin's womb--protecting these principles and those of sacred sex, its purity and the secrets behind gestation, birth and life itself.

Conjoining Muphrid is Alpha Volantis, the Flying Fish, which lies quite south under the keel of the Argo in the area associated with navigational mapping and directing of evolutionary currents that guide our lives. Piscis Volantis is associated with the soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically, laying the foundation that support souls' uninhibited true expression. The flying fish provides an extraordinary force and ability to leap into and spread its wings to glide through new or other dimensional realms, realms not common to itself. In this light, indicating something partnerships can do that we cannot do alone.

The seyfert galaxy NGC 5548 in Bootes express as an intensely focused purpose. It brings power to our Juno relationships, power to be confident on our inner convictions undaunted by external affairs of the human world. It provides an explosive power to overcome obstacles we may encounter and to ensure our safe passage and new birth.

Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

Time for Change

The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last quarter.

Last Quarter Moon occurs on April 10 in sidereal Sagittarius and under the auspices of inspirational Lyra, Harp of the Angels, conjoining Sheliak and the Starseed Ring Nebula, both of Lyra.

The stars of Lyra embody various facets of the artsciences of harmonics in light, sound, color, and geometry--particularly the wisdom of the artsciences. They are of vision, creativity, and inspire all that is of multi-media, the arts, and higher education.

The Lyran influence is often found in musicians, artists and those involved with art-sciences and multi-media projects--those with intent to use harmonics of light, sound, and geometry for the expansion of consciousness.

Sheliak, the strings of the Lyre, embodies the wisdom and application of these artsciences. A remarkable and spectacular optical show of brilliantly changing color emanates from this extremely fast rotating binary star. The beautiful starseed Ring Nebula M57, a super nova of Lyra, is the result from which many diversionary rays of extraterrestrial starseed races began their evolutionary journey. M75 inspires our re-integration, to realize all colors create One Light; to unify our multi-faceted diversity, to return Home.

Departure by Graeme Edge (Moody Blues)

Be it sight, sound, smell, or touch,
There's something inside, that we need so much.
The sight of a touch, or the scent of a sound,
Or the strength of an oak, with roots, deep in the ground.
The wonder of flowers, to be covered, and then to burst up,
Through tarmac, to the sun again, or to fly to the sun,
Without burning a wing, to lie in a meadow,
And hear the grass sing. To have all these things,
In our memories hoard, and to use them,
To help us, to find the lost chord...

Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

Eris in Realization

The Sun and Eris conjoin in late sidereal Pisces on April 10-11 marking the mid-point in the current Eris Synodic Cycle. This conjunction brings awareness regarding the ramifications of that which may have recently been disrupted in our lives, and the potential benefits we may gain from any re-organization or new paths that disruption inspired. Realizations on this day can bring greater insight into the role that newly discovered Eris plays in our lives.

The current Eris synodic cycle, conjoining the belly of Cetus the Sea Monster / collective human consciousness, and Revati of Pisces, may involve issues about having been swallowed in the human collective and associated issues regarding money and resources.

Mars and Pallas

Mars and Pallas conjoin in sidereal Aquarius on April 13. The Moon activates the conjunction several hours later. Although the two conjoin now, from Earth's perspective, the actual start of their new synodic cycle does not occur until May 20 (defined by the Mars-Pallas conjunction looking from the Sun). Mars and Pallas can have a discordant or challenging resonance, however they now conjoin quite fortuitous stars in sidereal Aquarius. Here we have motivation to apply our creative wisdom in dynamic action provided we are functioning from beyond any petty judgments or attitudes that might otherwise lead us to retreat into spiteful withdrawal.

Focus to the Future

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon of April 13-14 occurs in sidereal Aquarius conjoining Skat of Aquarius, star of the foundation, and Zeta, On the Urn, of Aquarius, from where the nourishing humanitarian waters flow. Both are of humanitarian philanthropic foundations, organizations, and business vessels through which material and financial support can flow for future-oriented humanitarian focused projects and for the nourishment of all.

The Sun enters sidereal Aries on April 15. Our next New Moon occurs on April 17 in early sidereal Aries--more to come then.
